1970 mav - paint before sale ???

Been a while have a 1970 mav. (Grabber clone has scooped hood off 74) ran a few runs at local track 302 roller motor msd, hooker headers, 600 holly, edlebrock intake, c-4 trans front disc conversion, bucket seats b&m shifter, complete car straight for a 70 with normal rust. Started body work and then threw on two coats of primer to seal it up for winter. Compltele new front end with midolyne rubber. have over 3k invested driver to track and back not trailered good running car fun to drive. Need to sell it moving should I invest more in paint (still needs some body work to do right) or just try and sell it in primer?? Do you think 2500.00 is asking to much for a car of this stature??

 

Probably not too mch. Just need to find someone that wants to finish a started project and has some money.

I would leave it in primer. That way, nobody will think you are trying to hide anything with fresh paint.

 

Thanks Eric for all you do I know moderators job is tough at times.. I am really fighting with myself about selling her..My son and I have alot of hours in her. This is a real tough decision..

 

Scooped hood off 74? Only 71 and 72's has the grabber hood with scoops. I think $2500 would be a great asking price for all the works done. SHould be a quick sale but if you paint it it could be closer to a $4-$5k easily.

 

I'd leave it in primer, that way the buyer has an option of what color they want, if you throw a $299 special on it I wouldnt be surprised if it lowered its value...Ive seen some horrible $299 specials done, and if they mess it up, you wont be able to sell it for $2k.

IMO if it was me I wouldnt sell it, especially if its something your son helped you with, with sentimental value and all that, how does he feel about you selling it? How old is your son? If nothing else take it to his place and park it...or find someone you know whose willing to take $50 bucks a month to store it at their house.

 

I'll store it for free, why, I'll even race it this summer for ya too...
