Does anyone know if the Comet GT V-8 302, 3 Speed Transmission came with column shifter as well as floor shifter, or only floor shifter... Is there a good resource for actual part numbers for 70's fords?
I would think that either shifter would be available... Ford was good about putting granny shifters on some of their hottest cars, so a lowly Comet GT could surely get one as well.
Lots. Had one as a teenager. 302 car 3 speed column. My buddy bought it and put a 351 windsor in it with the 3 speed column shift. I pretty much learned how to drive stick in it.
I think the floor shifter was part of the GT package but remember you could order just about anything back then.
Pilot Bearing Question Ok... The clutch is ready to go in and then we are droping the engine in. One pressing issue I need your all expert knowledge of... I received the clutch from Lux... It came w/ 4 diff pilot bearings... 2 brass, 2 steel... I quickly eliminated the brass... The steel is one solid steel and one w/ bearings in it... Both fit the measurements... Suggestions? I can see valid points in using either one... Additionally just out of curiosity, once I get the pilot bearing in... Can I ever get it out again? Thanks as always for everything! We are one small step from dropping the engine and hearing it run... Finding all the Z-Bar parts has been a challenge... But I actually found a real V-8 pivot... And I have to just say I so thankful for this forum! I look forward to your comments!
