Hey everybody I have a 1971 Ford maverick with 3.2 v8. I need new tires but am not sure what I can clear. I have 15 inch rims and want a wide tire that'll clear without spacers or anything like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

What rim size you looking for?
    for 15s
I had 15x7 with 4.25 bs with 235-60s all around no mods and worn suspension
i know a gues that has 245-60s all around but think one of the front tires hit the swaybar at full lock

for 17s you can easily do 245-45s all around no problem on 17x8

I, and several others on this board are running 275/60's on 8" wheels with a 4.5 backspace.

I might just go with the 235 60s so I don't have to do any extra spacing. I'm not real good with tire specs so I am sorry to say I don't undrstand what the "15x7 with 4.25bs" part means in the forst post. :p

I just realized bs meant back spacers. What size tires can I fit without any spacers? :p everything stock.

B/S stands for back spacing. That's the depth of the inside of the wheel. 4.25 means its 4 1/4" deep. Our cars work best with wheels 4 1/4 to 4 1/2" deep. Anything deeper WILL require a spacer. A lot of the late model wheels have a much deeper bs and require the use of spacers. The ideal size that fits great would be a 15x7 or 15x8 wheel with 4.25 or 4.50 bs. Unless of course you like even bigger wheels. 16's or 17's look fine too but I haven't personally tried them so I can't make a recommendation.
