I have a 1972 comet that I am working on and need a new engine for. It has the original 302 V8 with over 400k miles on it. I am looking for a great engine for weekend street use but is still great for dragging on a strip. I have a few ideas but I would love some feedback on the matter any info is useful. price range is $4000 to $8000ish
    Thanks!

get 347 stroker crate motor. there are alot of decent ones out there. that would get you plenty of power to have fun on the track and street.

I agree, the 347 stroker is an easy bolt in and all the aftermarket accessories for the 302 still fit. (headers could otherwise be a real problem)

400k miles on it? Change the oil and put a nice aftermarket air filter on it. Maybe some headers to help it breath as it is just getting broke in. lol
Sounds like the other guys have you on a good track

Ditto 347. Steer clear of 351 based engines. They are a pain.
