I am looking for pictures of '72 Grabbers with a certain color combination. The car was originally yellow with a darker yellow/orange tail panel. It is painted over, so I just wanted to see if anyone had pictures of one. What colors would the stripes be, etc.? Thanks as always.

My 72 originally had an orange panel around the tail lights as well as an orange stripe and hood decal. It was outlined with a red pin stripe. I have pics of mine new in 72 but can't locate them but I did find a partial pic of a hood I ran across on the web somewhere plus some not so good pics from one that was on eBay if I remember correctly.

I too am looking for some good pics of this color scheme as I am considering returning it to original. May have to have the stripes painted as I have not found anyone who produces stipes this color.

    Hope this helps.

    You shoulda grabbed that one!
    No pun intended!
    Nice car...

Find a sign and graphics company with a computerized vinyl machine.
The guys that do my business graphics on my vans also do ricer stripes and graphics. They told me to bring them a set of regular black grabber stripes and they could scan them into the computer and spit out a set any color I like.
I am going to do a set of grabber blue with red outline stripe.
The machine does graphics for an entire van in about 5 minutes!
    Great stuff...

    Dave

Btw: After you get your custom set made, the graphic company will keep the scans of the stripes on file. They always keep art work for the possibilty of it coming in handy one day. This means you can take your black Grabber stripes back and throw them on eBay or this site and get your money back.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda ... at the time I had my 72 Yellow Grabber that was fairly modded out and I was looking for a car that I could restore to 100% original. Unfortunately ... that color exterior color combo did not look sporty at all so I passed on it. I should have bought it and built me a Black Grabber with white interior .... oh well ...

    Not sporty?
    I love that color combo!

I'll quit high jacking the thread now and drool some more over those pics. ;)

Unfortunately for me ... I was not as knowledgable about Mavericks then as I am now .. A White 302/3-speed Floor Shift Grabber with White Interior has to be super rare ... I've never seen another. Was probably special ordered since I doubt a dealer would ever pick that color combo to sell on his lot.

Okay so the available colors for the 1972 Grabber stripe were:

    1. orange with red pinstripe
    2. black
    3. green with green pinstripe(was it lighter or darker green?)
    4. white?
Was there a red wide stripe? What year was the black with yellow outline on a red car?
    Thanks.

My red 72 had black stripes with yellow outline...
I think I have seen other colors as well.
Pretty sure I have seen argent (silver).
I have also seen a white 72 with black stripes and red outline.

Okay, so here is my new car, just picked it up yesterday.[IMG]
Those seats have to go. It came with an original bench seat from a different car.
Color of car medium yellow with a darker yellow main stripe and orange edge stripes
    [IMG]
The tail panel is the darker yellow and the edge stripe around the tail panel is orange

The paint job is horrible, but it was easy to get the original colors since they painted over them...It will be returned to the original colors.

The car had been home maybe 10 minutes and we had put gas in it, decided it needed some adjusting, set the timing and its first burnout....
