Someone will probably respond before I do, but I'll check mine tomorrow and see which wire goes where.

The big ones are right if it turns over, but I have to see where the little ones go. Sounds like its right but you're not getting spark for some reason. When you jump the soleniod to start the car without the key, facing the front of the car, you go from the first big one (battery cable) to the first small one (key hitting the starter circuit I assume) to crank the engine over. I don't know what the second small wire is for as I've never had problems with it. I assume it powers the coil or something, might not.

73Scotty, my car was doing the same thing. I replaced the solenoid and it doesn't do it but once in a blue moon. I'll look at my solenoid also. Good Luck. Preston

I had a similar problem. The guy who worked on my car put a wire on the wrong terminal. Swapped (whichever) wire and it worked fine.

Maybe trial and error a couple?

You should have 4 posts on your starter solenoid 2 little ones and 2 big ones the to little ones should have a I and S above them S= Starter I=Ignition here it probably where your problem is switch them see if your problem goes away the two big ones its very unlikely you got them mixed up one side is for the positive side of the battery the other is for the starter. You may have a faulty solenoid its happend to me a few times where a brand new one doesnt work.

Try this take a wire about a foot or two long strip both ends touch one end from the postive battery post and touch the other end to the little post with the S above it carefull if the solenoid is working right the motor will crank and probably start but keep cranking once it starts take the wire off and the motor will stall but if switch from the S to the I quick once it starts the motor will stay running and wont be cranking you can do this all without the key in the ignition.
