Has anyone mounted a '73 style front bumper without using the massive bumper inner support and the compression style bumper mounts?

I understand that the "Impact integrity of the system will be comprised!" without the inner support, but I was thinking of a skeleton tubing version that will support the bumper and the filler panel at the same time. I also want to tuck the front bumper, so a benefit is that I could mock it up with the distance I want. Any ideas or pictures?

    Thanks! :Handshake

I just tucked mine without removing the inner bracing. But then, I'm not really worried about the weight

Gotcha. I kinda don't have the inner bracing, so instead of buying one and the bumper mounts, just thought I would make a mount.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess most everyone ditches the '73 style in favor of the small bumpers. Anyone else?

I left them alone on my green car, the 73 I'm working on now will have small bumpers. Unless your building a race car, there's no real need to go to all the work. I have a set of real clean bumper shocks (or whatever they are called) they came off my Arkansas car.

    True, true.

I will probably wait until I can get these parts in person (shocks/mounts/whatever and brace). I imagine the inner brace would be quite the shipping fee.

Yup, it's pretty heavy....if you found a good one, you could always swiss cheese it, to lighten it up. Have you checked with Dennis Martin? he might have what you need.

Nope, have not reached out to him yet. Might do that.

I figured you would, but shipping would be high. Maybe this Spring or Summer I will be visiting family in Ohio.

I also go to the Columbus Swap Meets if that helps.
