Hey all, new to the forums and hoping to get some help. I have a 1973 Maverick Grabber, currently restoring it and trying to figure out the original paint color. It was painted red by a previous owner, similar to the candy apple red the car came in, but was told it used to be a lime-type green. I haven't been able to find anything similar on the Ford paint colors from other links posted here, so I'm hoping someone can help me out. I've got the serial number but am having no luck with it, and the sticker on the door is missing. Any help is much appreciated.
Contact Marti, I think he can get you your door tag info with just your VIN. http://www.martiauto.com/reports2.cfm
Thanks so much! That is the same index I've seen, but hopefully Marti can get me what I need. Nice to have a website like this to chat with fellow Maverick owners.
Order a Marti Report, it'll tell you what color the car was new. www.martiautoworks.com The sticker is mounted on the b pillar, where the drivers door latches.
Have found the report on the serial number from Ford, my husband had sent away for it. Very similar to Marti's reports, from what the standard report showed on his site. Still having a hard time finding the correct color though, it's not on the paint index. The original color according to Ford was Bright Lime. Any ideas on what this color actually looks like? I'm looking for the paint number to get it redone, haven't checked the floorboards yet though.
Thanks for all the help. Looking through the research we've discovered that though the registration says our Grabber is a 1973, just noticed the serial number means we own a 1972, and therefore the bright lime above is the original color. Finally figured it out!
in a couple of months you'll be an expert on these cars the visual way to tell the 73 apart is that they have the medium sized bumpers 69-72 have the small kind [/img] and 74-77 have the park benches
