    Thanks for the comments.

Car has been in shop 3 days...guy I bought it from claimed to have replaced rear main seal...if he did it, he messed it up bad and so am having this redone and the car gone through to find other issues...Anyone know the tipping point of vehicle value for this one? I hate to put more into it than I could get back out one day.

    nice looking car.
the value of these cars is very difficult to determine.
what shop are you having the rear main seal fixed at?

The best and most honest shop in San Diego of course. :thumbs2: Rays Carcare in Chula Vista.

Car is out of shop. Tranny is ticking still after filter/flush. Not sure what is up, but will drive it some to see if it gets better I guess sitting for some time had an impact. Filled up gas for first time...that is not an easy task to keep a seal and also prevent dripping on rear bumper cover/plastic.

Found out the hard way there is no radiator overflow reservoir. Temporarily using a Rad fluid contrainer to keep driveway clean.:hmmm:

    :Welcome: to the site.

Really nice looking Mav there. It give the impression all you need to do is detail it and drive it. Hoping it is all that good. Old cars tend to have their quirks that need ironing out.

Here is a good tech article with ideas for an overflow bottle...

Have done a few more things...
Centerlink bushing replaced, 4 shocks replaced, 1 split open and leaking power steering hose replaced, power steering ram boot replaced, alignment. Transmission was not the issue in the ticking problem...there was some sheetmetal dragging against the transmission which the shop bent back into shape and the ticking is now gone.

    Problems still needing addressed:
-Steering wheel needs to be pulled and centered east/west...someone put it on wrong or did some work to the steering box and didn't fix this afterward.
    -Electric Carburetor choke not working.

    Engine and Trans Rebuilds

Running horribly, sputtering can't get above 50mph...thought it was carb again (which had been rebuilt). Had carb rechecked...not the problem. Replaced plugs 5 of 6 were completely fouled and shorted across. Can't believe this was not looked at by the mechanic I had rebuild the carb prior to final adjustments.

Ran much better (y), but still had a ticking at high rpm's, and thought it was a bad bearing. Found 1 questionable bearing replaced all and new oil + Lucas. Still not fixed.

Head pulled. Piston tops all carboned up...this seems to be the source of the banging/ticking.

Having engine completely rebuilt. Got headers from Mustangs Unlimited and the port splitter from Cliffords.

While it is out, I am having the c4 auto rebuilt. Although it was shifting fine, it was leaking pretty bad at the shift lever pivot. So, while everything is all apart, might as well tackle this at the same time.

Transmission is back from rebuild. I chose original style (no paint). Came with new modulator/bracket (Old modulator obsolete so new modulator with bracket installed), new torque converter (stock rpm), new flexplate. 580.00 total parts and labor (bench job only). I think it was a good price. :thumbs2: Transmission mount was broken...but planned on replacing anyway.
