I bought it in February. The guy I bought it from also had a driver side door replacement that he gave me, so the first thing I did was replace it. The front fender popped out beautifully. And I removed all the rust, patched small holes. The two things that really helped the look of the vehicle the most was the front bumper tuck(highly recommended), and blacking out the front grille.
Here is a photo after the paint job. I really debated as to whether or not paint the chrome bumper. But the rear bumper was more rust than chrome, and needed to be painted. Ultimately I decided that the bumpers should match, so I went ahead and painted it.
Nice work on that car! U really turned it around. I like the color combo w/ the black trim. What u plan for the interior?
Thanks, I'm happy with it. I couldn't find any pictures online of a late 70's Comet with painted bumpers. But I found this Maverick; And I liked the way it looked, so I thought I would give it a try. The interior is in decent shape. But the two drivers side doors are from a donor Comet, and are blue on the inside, while the rest of the interior is emerald green. I was thinking I could either buy some emerald green vinyl & fabric paint, and make the doors match the rest of the interior. (easy way) Or get ALOT of black vinyl & fabric paint, and black out the whole interior. (hard way) I've never done it before, so I'll do some research and see how difficult it would be to paint the interior.
I suddenly have a hankering for a piece of spearmint gum lol it definitely looks a thousand times better. the color really pops with the black accents great job definitely one of the nicest 4 doors out there
from Northeast Pennsylvania No matter what color it is now painted, it's more important that you took the time to bring the car back to life
