So i cam across a 78 monarch today with a factory standard 3 speed with overdrive . Will this standard fit in a 69.5 without doing any tunnel work in the 69.5. It also comes with a very nice standard console, sport steering wheel, front disk brakes a 302 that is not burning any oil and runs great . Will the rearend in this car go into a maverick or is it wider . I can pick this car up for 650.00. My main question i want answerd is ,will this stock Monarch standard tranny fit in a 69.5 tunnel with no modifying.

Too much work to put in a 69.5 MAV Send it to me:biglaugh:. JK. the rear end will work but its about 1/2in wider on each side, therefore need more offset. everything else should fit. Just remember the 69.5 was fashioned after a falcon, so you need ALL the monarch steering stuff and all frontend stuff too. My friend did his conversion on a 63 ranchero and used all maverick front end and steering with no problems

in Monarchs/Granadas, they came with 8", 8.5" plate type and 9" rears. all will work in a Mav but dont mess with the plate type. it's a bastard and weak at best.

the tranny should fit in the 69.5 tunnel but watch out for the shifter linkages hitting. i have one in my basement and the rods on them are made a little funny. the pedals or z-bar wont interchange though, done tried that.

    good buy never-the-less
