What kind of transmission is in a 1979 F100 Custom? It has a 302 in it. I'm wondering if it will work with my '73 Maverick.
Hmmm, alright. Here in a day or two when I get a few pictures of it I'll post it. Thanks! Sorry if I ask silly questions, but I'm new and trying to learn.
C-4 has a removeable bellhousing with an aluminum main case. FMX has a removeable bell (via 4 external bolts) with an iron main case. C-6 is all aluminum with an integral bellhousing. The FMX pan is nearly square, as is the C-4's. The C-6 pan has a notched out portion in the passenger side rear corner. The C-4 is the only one of the three that will directly swap into a Mav. The other two require a different crossmember and driveshaft slip yoke (31 spline) The C-4 pan will also likely be a pan fill, meaning the dipstick tube goes into the pan, this will also mean it has a 164 tooth bell, instead of the more desireable 157 tooth bell. Oh, and there are no silly questions , but you will find lots of silly answers. You will never learn without asking questions.
Oh, wow. Thanks. That is VERY informative. Here soon when I get the chance, I'll take a look at it. Thanks.
