2.3 engine mounts - anyone (mainly our Brazilian friends) have a pair?

Allright...before you guys flame me, seriously, anyone have/seen a pair of these, or is there something similar (another Ford product) that uses/used them? (maybe a Courier pickup or something along those lines?)

I have been intrigued for almost ten years when I researched and found out the base model Brazilian Mavericks had 2.3 engines in them...and, being the owner of both a 88 Turbocoupe Tbird and an 86 SVO (with extra engines/parts laying around), I've kinda kicked around in my head the idea to build a Brazilian-spec style Maverick...only with a hairdryer hanging off of it:dancing: ...

<--- runs and jumps into firesuit, awaiting replies :rofl2:

(Don't get me wrong...I'm a diehard V8 person...but I think it would be different/cool to have a daily Mav that sips gas, yet has as much (if not more) balls than some smallblocks, with the added bonus of weight savings...and, with the right parts, a 2.3t can be built to churn 400hp easily, yet, with the right gearing, still knock down 25mpg (or better!)

Part numbers would be helpful - even if they are in Portuguese!

Actually, I've "kinda" already figured a pair of them out...but I like to use factory parts as much as possible when I put projects together...and thanks for acknowledging/agree to this idea - I think I may be the first one on this board going backwards (to a 4 cylinder):biglaugh: ...almost everyone else goes from a 6 to an 8! (been there, done that a bunch of times)

If I had the money I'd build a 4 cylinder mav. It would be way cooler than any actual 4 cyl car.

Cool! I have a friend who wishes to buy a Maverick, and sent him this link - he immediately fell in love with the saturn Gold (green) colored one parked on the beach in one of the "EVENTS" photos...seems to be ALOT of 4 cylinder powered Mavericks running around down there!

LOL...kind of ironic (me wanting to install a turbo 4 2.3 in a Maverick), seeing as how a majority of the 2.3T engines were cast/built in Brazil! (and shipped here for installation in SVOs, Tbird/XR7 Cougars, and Merkur XR4ti's) - the Brazilian blocks/heads are stronger (higher iron content) and are less prone to warpage/out of round...

Thanks for the link! Good stuff...

I actually have a N/A 2.3 sitting in a Maverick right now, in running condition. Been in there for about a year. The mounts are what I have been missing to make it driveable. I am strongly thinking about going with the 3.0 V6 Ranger/Aerostar engine now instead, though.

Lemme see what I can do...like I said, I'm wanting to find factory pieces, at the very least part numbers...just for reference if nothing else (to prove they exist! I could build some from scratch if I had a picture of how they mounted up/looked!)

oh ok. when evre i see pinto engines listed its usually in cc's and im not one to try to figure out the conversion factor on the spot.

if i had a camera that was worth a d@am for close up detailed shots i'd show you guys the '61 falcon ranchero model i made. oddly enough it came with a 427 chebby BB but i used the turbo I4 from a '86 t-bird kit. if you guys ever want to know how to make motor mounts in 1:25 scale out of styrene plastic i may be able to help ;)

I think this book will tell you how to do it. Not positive but if you read through some of the sample pages they talk about that 2.3 turbo a lot.

It also talks about a company that has a lot of performance parts for the 2.3 Engine to build it to over 200 hp quick and cheap. I thought about it myself and judging by the winning bidder on that auction (my wife, I think) I should have the book come Father's day...

actually that'd be really schweet to have about 250 hp with less than half the wieght and almost twice the MPG of a V8 in a Maverick... Could you see the look on some poor unsuspecting stock Stang owner when you wax his/her *ss then pull over and show them a 4 banger under the hood

Jamie; if you go with a Ranger engine, get the 4.0 litre. Has gobbs of torque and about 210hp. Had a few in my Rangers over the years, and they seem bullet proof. Good luck!:)
