When Randy Brown brought his 1977 Maverick to the MCCI Indiana Mini-Meet, one of the first things I noticed was it had two body buck tags...one right behind the other. The back one has some stampings in it, but is different than the front one. Hard to really tell what EXACTLY was on it. Anybody else ever see this?
If the car was built for a special purpose, the second tag might hold the info. I've seen another car with 2 tags, one said "Toronto Car Show" or something like that, it's been awhile. The car is owned by someone on this site.
And I've read that on some of the other Ford cars, that the funny symbols, and sideways letters, that are stamped into the Buck Tags, are Inspector's Stamps...(Craig's pic shows a keyhole symbol) ...Not sure if this was true about the Mavericks. Has anyone ever compiled ALL the known Body Buck Tag info for the Mavericks into a single list? Kevin Marti, at Marti Auto Works sells a TagBook for Mustangs and Cougars, but not for Mavs. Update: I also saw on the Mustang II cars of that era, where a 2nd Buck Tag was for "Road Guard Abrasion" undercoating. On the Mustangs, it would have the "RA" info on both tags sometimes. Could be totally different for the Mavs, like Dave mentioned.
I have found other body buck tags in Maverick's I have dis-mantled. In one I found 9 or 10 body buck tags in a pile under the carpet. They were left there from the factory.
Anyone know what the code "BAG" means? I've been able to decipher everything on my tag except this one.
I can't seem to post the picture again, but it is in this thread. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=27456&page=2
Here is Ralph's Body Buck Tag: I am not sure what the BAG means. I will have to do some research when I get time. Do you have a build sheet, Ralph?
Does your car have "bumperettes"? Or did it from the factory? Both my St.Thomas built 74's have BAG on the tags, and one of the things they have in common, was the Bumper Protection Group. Or it could be the code for the chrome trim around the side windows.
It's called Bumper Protection Group...but....I'm going to pull out the build sheet for my white car, and see. I need to find my note book.
