2013 Gathering Itinerary July 17th-20th Although the host hotel has no problem with parking trailers in their lot, I know it can make things congested. I have arranged trailer parking for up to ten trailers in the lot across the street for the week of our event. The Holiday Inn has generously agreed to give us a private meeting room for the entire week, day and night, to use as we wish. This includes keeping food (hot or cold) and coolers. They just asked that we treat it responsibly. Wednesday 17th: Get together at Grice’s, 3240 St. Anne Dr. (A short drive from the host hotel.) Pizza at approximately 6:00 pm. All early arrivers welcome. Thursday 18th: We will leave the hotel at approximately 10 am for the National Mississippi River Museum in downtown Dubuque. Tickets are $12.50 for adults, $11.50 for seniors, & $8.00 for children ages 3-17. We will have lunch at the Shot Tower Inn. After lunch we will visit and ride the Fenelon Place Elevator, or for those who wish, return to the hotel pool. At 5:30-6:00 pm, we will cruise to East Dubuque for the Graffitti Nights Cruise-in, where they will have a special reserved area for our group. Friday 19th: We will leave the hotel at approximately 10 am and cruise to the Field of Dreams movie site (about a 45 minute ride). Kids (and adults) are welcome to bring a bat-ball-glove to play on the field. There is no charge for admission. After spending some time there, we will cruise into Dyersville and eat as a group at the Country Junction. After lunch we will visit the National Farm Toy Museum ($3.00 per person) and Plaza Antique mall, which are adjacent to the restaurant. Supper will be of your choice, and there are plenty of great places near the hotel. We will have our annual MCG club meeting at the hotel later in the evening. Saturday 20th: We will leave the hotel at approximately 10:30 am and cruise to Eagle Point Park, overlooking the Mississippi River, for our show. A hamburger/hot dog lunch will be catered at noon. After all the awards and door prizes have been awarded, we will head back to the hotel. For those arriving earlier, there are several activities of interest such as historic Galena, Illinois (about 20 minutes away), Mississippi River cruises (with or without meal), The Ham House Museum (Ham was a family name. It is not a pork museum. J), and the Botsford Doll Museum in Dyersville. Please contact me if you need any more details or assistance. Jack
