The little 200 in my Maverick is done, its old, its tired, it has over 300,000 miles on it and several overhauls. I pulled a decent 250 out of a parts car I bought last year. The car is a 72 but seems to have had its engine placed at some point with a 75 Granada motor. I am building it back as if it were a 72. All the machine work has been done and I have most of the parts for reassembly. I am still a novice at this, but with the expert advice from a friend, I think it will go well and last me many trouble free years.

Here are a couple pics to start. First pic is the master rebuild kit, second is the block hanging on the stand.

Make sure you keep the accessory spacers! I had a 250 out of a 76 Granada and the mountings on the block for the AC and power steering pump do not stick out as far as the one's on the 72 250 we were replacing. I don't know what years this changed, but you won't notice it until you go to put the items back on! :)

This motor was already swapped into a Maverick . The Granada stuff is gone. Thanks for the heads up.

This is the only ID I could find other than the D5DE. The number is hard to read, it's 5, backwards 3, 217043. I'm not familiar with Granada VINs but I would think there would be letters also.

I had a problem already dangit! The rear thrust bearing doest fit, its too narrow to straddle that part of the block. when tapped down into place it flared out on the sides. Also wouldnt seat all the way down. Im going to order another set of bearings.

When I tried to rotate the crank, it got hung on that bearing by this little piece left over from production.

Are the bearings numbered? I never built a motor frm the pan up; I always got it frm machine shop w/ bottom-end assembled and went frm there.

The bearings are labled upper and lower, all mine are the same except one, its made with an intergrated thrust bearing.

Thanks Kevin, I had a head start on you, the machine shop installed my freeze plugs and cam bearings. I will get a lit done today since I figured out my mistake.
