3.55 or 3.73 is there much differance?

    Hi wondering if you guys can tell me if 355s work for my set up or its best to go with 373s.I bought an 8.8 and the guy said it had 373s I opened it up and did some research and found out they were 355s.I have a built 289 with a stock c4(for now) am I gonna be ok with 355s?:hmmm:

    3.55 are better since you don't have an overdrive trans. Highway cruising rpm may still be a little high but not as bad as the 3.73.

    I have 3.55's and I have a 347 with a C-4. I think you will find it a better gear for highway cruisin'.

    I see you are from Michigan. You are in luck. The Maverick Comet Club International, Inc. (MCCI) will be holding their 19th Annual Roundup Nationals in Dearborn, Michigan this July 24-29.     Im still running 14s on it but putting 15s when I change the rearend..it has a 3200 stall speed.

    OK, you lost me here. You say stall speed can't exceed cruise RPM but you say not to chance the 3.73's. Seems to me the 3.73's would help keep the cruise RPM closer to or above the stall speed. I ran a TCI 10" in my TH400 that would flash to 4200 when I launched and with more street time than track time the trans lived a long healthy life. Just trying to understand the logic.

    No lock up in mine but it did have 4.10's with 26" tires.
