74 4 door comet getting ready to install 351W in place of 250 i6 spun bearing. And a 74 mav with 302
I have a 74 4 door comet with a 250 spun bearing bad. Was wondering if 300 i6 will bolt into that transmission and fit with split headers. And turbos to bring up horse. Features will be bored 60 over port polish mill .4 balance the cam. Please let me know if it will work. found motor for 100.00 cause 351W had cracked block

The 300 I6 is a lot bigger engine and you will have to make it fit into your car. It has been done but it is not an easy swap.

What is your goal with this car? That will really determine how much effort it is really worth to put a truck motor in a car.

My goal with it is to have a powerful 6 but keep some fuel economy. Was told 300 was only i6 that can handle higher performance. It ran good in truck.thought 100.00 was good deal. Is it true that stock 300 has just shy the horse of 302 but way more torque.

To get a 300 in a Maverick, it would require extensive modifications. The front radiator support has to be moved and modified. It truly is not worth the effort unless you want to make an all out drag car out of it, or if you want an interesting "show car". For everyday use, not worth the effort.

    I don't know about fuel economy on a 300? I had a new F-150 in 85 with a 300 and I only got 12 to 13 mpg. It was a great engine though.(y)

depending on the 302, it will put a hurtin on that 300 all day long. you can build a 302 pretty cheap now days. putting the 300 in will be more work than you bargained for. I get 18-20 average with my 302 at 375hrspwr at 65mph. 300 wont touch that mileage.
