I had a Torker 289 single plane intake, Pertronix ignition, GT-40P heads, a moderate cam, Edelbrock 600 carb, 6901 Hooker headers and dual exhaust, and 3.80 rear gears on a C4 tranny. It still got 20 mpg, if I kept my foot out of it.

It also got 1 mpg if I put my foot into it.

The body is so light and the 302 is powerful enough to push it around with minimal gas mileage. As long as you take it easy on depressing the gas pedal.
