Somewhere around 5-550 is where they say the block will split. Aftermarket block, the sky is the limit. Or the limit is $$$$.
With the right parts you could conceivably get 2000 HP from a 302 but it wouldn't idle below 2000 rpm, it would use 2 to 5 gallons of nitro-methanol per mile and you might drive it a total of 5 miles between rebuilds.........
(^------ Hey Paul! That tranny you built for me shifts/operates like something out of a tank. Drove her from Seattle to Portland with no problems.) I've got pictures in my 302 rebuild book of someone who ran an Australia block at around 700hp (with NOS) for about 8 passes before it split...
Mat, Good to hear from you. That C4 is only just over a year old. It should stay that strong for a long time. Glad you like it!
LOL, no it won't, I have one. 350 hp is about right, but the Edelbrock cam sucks. My 347 stroker with AFR 185 heads only made about 420 hp. I do know of a guy with a 302 that's making about 550 hp N/A, runs 8's in the quarter mile spinning it to over 8000 rpm.
The kit with the roller cam cost around $1700. My point was, the kit won't have your engine making 450 hp, 350 hp maybe. Edelbrock claimed 387 hp but, in reality, no way.
