As always just my .02 but coming from a 408 man I'm right on this one. (y)

Terry, I'm interested in why you say the 347 is "the way to go" vs. the 408?

I've been looking for the right deal on a 351 based stroker engine, myself.

"There's no replacement for displacement" comes to mind. :yup:

(I might be misunderstanding your statement. You could be saying, "Stroke whatever block you have!" )

370 outta a 302 block is the way to go. saves you weight and ya get 600 ponies...now thats less filling...and kickin ass!:drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:

Why is a 302 based engine better than a 351w based? Weight? Bad part is...at the same HP level the 302 will break sooner than a 351w will unless you go to an aftermarket 302 block (just as heavy as a stock 351w block!) and then the weight difference is minimal. In a tight chassis Maverick a 302 is a better choice because it actually fits. IF you got the room the windsor is the way to go period. Either that or big block and then you're talking even more $$$. The windsors don't cost much more to build than a 347...in fact, they cost almost the same and by design usually are capable of more torque & HP. There are and will be exceptions....but I will say that I will NEVER go back to a 302 based engine again after experiencing the big-block style power of the 415....well...unless someone can give me enough parts to make the same HP and torque at such a low RPM with a 302 based engine. Oh, and it's got to last more than 15 passes.

like mavman said its no weight differnce....600 hp on a stock block is not! good , now if you had a dart then go for it(y)

IMO 600hp out of a windsor is alot easier than a 302 based engine.....

if W fit better in our cars i think ALOT more people would do it...but trust me if your pushing 600 hp headers are goin to be a nightmare...unless of course you do M2 , but thats MORE green backs.....speed cost money.how fast you want to go? just my .02:tiphat:

Why are there all these different Windsor stroker sizes, like 370, 408, 415, 427, etc.??....

I might be way off here......but I am assuming 3 variables:
    stroke
    bore
    piston height

and someone wanting to be real specific..... aka ANAL :D
