as a christmas present my friend said he's going to throw the 351w that he isnt using anymore into my car. awesome friend right. what the question i have is will the c4 bolt up from a 250 i6. if i have to change the bell the aod bell will work right?
One other thing is that c4 from a 6 cylinder may not last long unless it's beefed up, or you don't abuse it at all.
Seems he was asking if he could use a bell from an AOD trans on the C4 if he had to change it. This is not possible though, since the bell is not removable on the AOD trans. Like was said, the 250 bell will work fine. You will need the correct flex plate for the balance of the engine (don't know about the torque converter).
I believe all 351w's are 28oz., 57 tooth will fit the bell. Should be easy to find. The one that's on your 250 will bolt up, but it's 0 balance and will cause vibrations. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I'm just going off vague memory here.
351's usually had the larger 164 tooth flywheel or flexplate. He'll need the same tooth count flexplate as the 250, but in 28 oz/in
thanks for the information. im really not looking forward to giving up the mav for a week and going back to the cavalier
Right ! I just wanted to make sure he didn't order a 351W flexplate from somewhere and end up with the wrong one.
yup, that's true. come to think of it, i dont think ive ever seen a 351w with a 157t flywheel from the factory
