Been dabbling in 3D Modeling lately and thought I'd try my hand at doing a Maverick. It's still a work in progress... I will post more pics as it progresses.

Let me know what you think! :)

Looks good (y) You plan on doing the whole car?

I never modeled a car before, but have done 3D modeling for production.
Was tempted to do some maverick parts, until I remembered production cost.:16suspect

that is freakin' awesome dude! Much respect.

Very nice work there and I too was thinking the same thing to make it easier to do virtual mods and save time overall on the trial and error.

Not to be the first moocher to come along here.. and there will be others for sure, lol.. but is it possible to post the finished project here later on when it's finished? I would really dig having a model to do some photoshop work on for my paint schemes.

I usually pay an artist to render a few angles but that gets expensive pretty quick too. I've even used tracing paper in the past to get rough idea's of where I wanted to be on a project but I be a better engine builder than an artist. lol

Anyways.. great job so far. Keep us updated on your progress.

PS. why red?.. is that your intended car color when your all finished up? Safe to assume that the cad software lets you simply click to change colors of the model on the fly?

    Thanks guys for the feedback!!

@groberts101 - Now that you mention it... Using the same idea you mentioned, this would make a great tool for fellow Maverick/Comet freaks such as myself to use for trying out paint colors, schemes, etc. It would be awesome if I could make it available online, or even write it into a program for people to purchase/download and use for exactly that purpose. That way nobody has to pay millions for CAD Software or Photoshop .

Also, I'm doing it in red because it helps me see any imperfections in the modeling so I can correct them, and because I like red .

@Big - Yes, I do plan on doing the whole vehicle. I am even planning on modeling the Grabber hood as well as the interior.

It will be awhile before it's finished, mainly because I'm a perfectionist lol! But I plan adding as much detail as I can to this.

Also, since I currently dont have any Mavericks to use as a reference for detailed parts, does anyone have a nice pic of the front steer emblem straight on? Am also looking for a straight on pic of the fender emblem. The higher the resolution, the better. I'd really appreciate it :)

Thanks guys! I'm using Autodesk 3ds Max 2010 to model it. So far, this is beginning to look like one of the best I've ever done so far. I'm still fairly new at this stuff, but I have to say it's coming along rather well! :)

    Thanks for the support! :Handshake

Will post more pics as it progresses.

As a matter of fact, can someone do me a favor? Pretty please

I need two pics of a headlight bezel so I can model them correctly (either side will do), one pic directly from the front and one directly from the side. Preferably a Grabber one with the black paint, it's easier to see the detail.

I don't have any Mavs or Comets right now or I'd do this myself

Also, I need a pic of the Grabber hood directly from the front (if at all possible, try to stand farther away and zoom in).

I plan on making 2 separate models... one stock and one Grabber.

I plan on making this available to you guys once this is finished. Figured it's make a nice tool for checking out some paint/color/hood schemes (y)

    I'd really appreciate it!!

I know we're all about the cars here.. but I build and hotrod computer things too and would be happy to give advice if you want more efficient workflows from you're existing hardware. Or I can show you how to "swap out the motor" in that PC to make it feel like a big-block. ;)

PS. keep em' coming and don't forget who gave ya the idea when we agree on price for the finished project. :D

OK, who do I have to kill to get a copy of this model when you're done!??!?!?!?!

I've been wanting to model my own Maverick but just haven't had the time. One this is finished and ready for textures, its the perfect medium for testing paint ideas.

I have to admit, I'm more of a computer geek first, then a Maverick Enthusiast :D lol!!

I have pretty beefy computer that I built myself. But, my computer is getting a bit old (3 years) and if I had the money I'd build a better one.

And don't you worry, groberts101, you'll get credit for the end product too :D
