After reading all the posts about tire sizes that everyone has tried, I have ordered new wheels & tires for my 74 Grabber. Like alot of others I wanted the widest tires that I can put on the rear & keep them in the fender wells. I ordered Cragar SS 15 X 8's for rear & 15 X 7's for front. I ordered Goodyear Eagle GT tires. 4 1/4th Backspace 275 X 60 X 15's rear & 225 X 65 X 15's front. My tire guy says he will experiment to make sure they will fit without rubbing. It will be the end of next week before he get's them in. I will let everyone know if they work

With my stock rearend, 245/60-14s rub the inside frame-rail with a 7-inch wheel and 4-1/4" backspacing. They almost touch the leafspring...:hmmm:

on mine the 275X60X15's being 28"tall would have not cleared with out rolling the lip ....and the 275x50s was a bit wider the 60s hasTire Tread Width:8.9'' and the 50s areTire Tread Width:10.0''

Looks good Dave, I think the long studs and open ended lug nuts would be a great investment for you!! Don't want to do the 3-wheel dance like happened to Todd!!(y)

Looks nice Dave,, success!! When I had my 72 grabber I did not have to run wheel spacers when I had 8" cragars with 10" tread. It was close though. When I bought my stallion and put on the cragars, I had to get wheel spacers, the tires touched the leaf springs. So moral to the story is, everything is not always the rule with these cars.

    Tire Shop

My Cragars came in so I went to the tire shop today. They mounted 275 x 60 x 15 on rear & 225 x 70 x 15 on front. It looked like my car was lowered. The tires tucked under the fender wells about an inch. They would not rub anywhere however I didn't like that look. We studied many tires sizes & determined that if we put 275 x 50 x 15 rear & 215 x 60 x 15 front it will give me the look I am wanting. He is ordering BF Goodrich TA Radials. They will be in in about a week. I will let you know how they work.
    Thanks, Mike:)
