iam expecting arouind 2400 coming my way but i need help making my comet faster. right now the top speed is around 105. the gears are slow at changing. I also have an arch enemy lol its just a car that i see all the time when i get off work its a pontiac grand prix gtp. He just pisses me off the first time i had him but my car changed gears slow so he took me. take off that front bumper to reduce weight lol

what are the specs on the car?

when you mention that the gears are slow to change im assuming you have an automatic? do you shift gears manually or leave it in drive?

A floor shift is not going to make any difference if the tranny is slow shifting. A cam, 4 barrel carb and manifold, headers, ignition, rear gears and tranny rebuild are the start. Remember you are going to lose gas mileage, if that matters. These are by no means the only thing that needs to be done. It is a snowball effect. Remember the faster you go the need for better braking comes up to.:)

Since we are talking street racing, I would suggest getting a really good lawyer for when you get busted.

The first thing I would do is to put a performance shift servo in the C4. This will help with the sloppy shifting between 1/2 and 2/3. It is easy to install and can be had for around $100. Performance Automatic also builds performance kits for the C4 and new transmissions. I have used them since they started in business and they are one of the best with a great tech department.
Then, I would put a set of headers and X pipe, and change the rear gears to at least 3:55's. Unless the motor is in really good condition I would do just these mod's and see where you are. If the motor is in really good condition then go ahead and put a street cam and add the intake and small 4brl carb.
Take it from someone who drives a "drum brake" race car in the 10's at over 130mph...........................You Want To Change Those Drums Over To Disc's ASAP!!!!!!............unless you have a 12' diameter parachute!

    IMHO

It's late and my fingers are going faster than my brain................here is the website...........http://www.performanceautomatic.com/parts_c4.htm
for the shift servo.......................it works without tearing the complete trans apart.

    IMHO
