When I have my 4 way flashers on and push down on the break the flashers stop flashing, is this normal? If not is it a bad flasher or could it be something else?

Normal on old Fords. My Dad had a 67 Custom 500 [cheap version of the Galaxie} that when you held down the brake pedal, and pushed the 4 way flasher switch in just right, the radio would play! Don't ask me how or why, but I figured it out by accident sitting in the car one day waiting on my Mom at the grocery store. Could listen to the radio without the key! I thought it was so cool at about 10 years old....(y)

I believe that's normal on most if not all cars.:)

Yes, normal. It's because of the way they are wired. You'll also notice the turn signals on the front light up as if they were brake lights too.
