hey Guys and Gals,is the Ford 4100 a good reliable carburator?I've been considering one of these:C5AF-F for my 302/c-4.Thanks for the feedback:tiphat:

Thanks for the tip:tiphat:I'll be using a typhoon with an aluminum spacer plate.I found a fresh rebuilt ready to bolt on 1.12 venturi 4100 that i might not be able to pass up.If they are a rock solid carb,I might have to leap.lol

I have one of those on the 302 in my 1968 Cougar. Very happy with the simplistic reliability of it. Plus it is old school.

They are a very reliable carb! Make sure to get a good quality kit and clean it well and install the new diaphragms and gaskets and your good to go for a long time. A new filter,if it isn`t in the kit,is a must also. You`ll be very pleased with it!:thumbs2:

I have ALWAYS wanted to try one as I have always heard great things about them. I bought 2 old ones but both were so locked up I couldn't get them loosened up.
From what I have heard and read should make you a great carb for many years.

I bought one from Pony Carbs several years ago. It was a bit pricey from them, but they recommended it over the 4300 for dependablity. It is small as far as CFM's go.

    So...a 4100 will be ok for my 302?typhoon intake,(more than likely a too much) hopped up cam,6901 hookers,either a pr.of gt40's,or some e7te heads,c4,4.11 gears and a trac-loc.Not a race car,just a street car.

I put a 1.12 on my 302 with gt40 heads and an edelbrock intake, but i had trouble getting it to run right; always too rich even with small jets etc. I switched to a 1.08 (which looks identical but they are rarer), and it runs really nice now, good mpg, and power when i step on it.

I would go Edelbrock 1405 or 1406, depending if you want automatic choke or not. The 4100, unless it is a 600 cfm, would, in my opinion , not be enough for your set-up. 1406's are basiclly plug'n'play carbs.
