Hello quick question. I am doing an engine swap in my 75 comet. I have a 5.0 from a 89 crown vic. I know I will have to swap the oil pan did some research here and many say get a front sump oil pan. Not a lot of old cars in junk yard up here to take one from do you have a specific year an model for front sump pan and oil pickup? I will buy a new one off Rock Auto or something. Thanks great site.
If you are going carb, wimpy as it may be that engine will have a roller cam and require a steel or other custom dist gear... Any 289/302 vehicle before 1979 should have a front sump pan...
Welcome to the site from northeast Ohio!!! I wouldn't waist my time combing the yards for a banged up used pan. It is too inexpensive to buy a new pan. Don't forget, you have to change the oil pump pick-up and dip stick. Welcome to the forum. This is an inexpensive one that will fit: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/sum-g3534/overview/make/ford I got one that was chrome and part of a kit to do just what we are doing, put a modern motor in an old car. it came with everything that needed to be swapped: http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/50300K/10002/-1?parentProductId=757661 these are before and after shots of my 99 explorer motor and what it looks like installed: for my setup, I wanted serpentine, not V-belts, so I used the complete setup from a junkyard 94 F150. I haven't got my A/C compressor yet, so this is a shorter, temporary belt, here it is in the car: you will also need V8 motor mounts and frame stands. Good luck with your build!
