picked her up for 500 bucks a few months ago and just got started on her.plan to move my 91 mustang drive train over with a carb swap.still on the fence about running a t5 or a built c4.hoping after a few more upgrades to be putting about 400 to the wheels.feel free to offer opinions or advise.

long block currently has forged long rod rotatating assembly, shaved gt40 heads (9.8 to 1 comp) and an e303 roller cam.i plan to run a rpm air gap intake and 650 or 750cfm holley double pumper, long tube headers and a msd distributor to match the 6al box, coil and wires i have.i would also like to add afr 185 heads and a bigger cam.gonna run the 8.8 with 4.11 gears and a trac lok..if i run a c4 it will have a broader 500 hp kit in it and a 3000-3500 stall convertor.might run a 100 shot of nitrous.

plans for suspension include front disk brakes from a 78 granada, fox mustang lowering springs in front, stock leaves in back with cal trac bars and a shelby drop.possible explorer rear disk upgrade.17x10 and 17x8 wheels, thinkin maybe billet specialties street lite wheels or something similar.i still have a soft spot for saleen sc wheels.a mini tub is also in the works.8 point cage as well.16 gallon fuel cell.shaved side marker lights.rear mounted battery.

plans change regularly but i will update them as i go.anyway on to the pics.
here she is when i bought her.did i mention NO rust?

Great project, keep the updates coming. I'd go with the 5 speed, way more fun.

I agree with Dennis. For a fun street car the t5 is more fun. However if you plan on some bracket racing at the track the c4 is more consistent. Main thing is have fun and enjoy it. Good luck,:)

i plan to drive the car pretty often so the overdrive with the t5 would be nice, but your right, when i do go to the track the auto would be great and i won't have to worry about overloading the t5's first gear.

well the mini tub is not gonna happen but i rolled the fender lips and pulled the old rear out to make room for the 8.8.also got ahold of a grabber spoiler and decklid.picked up a fuel cell,a summit knock off of a performer rpm intake and a 3310 holley.i am up in the air about the holley due to the size, but for the price i had to get it.now i need to sell of the six banger and mustang stuff to buy a bigger cam, distributor and gear drive.

the 3310 is a vac secondary and will be fine on a 302 it will only open enough for the air demand

well i decided to mini tub the car anyway and move the springs inboard.the cut out for the tubs is rough i know.

now for the big question..... how do i move the leaf springs inboard, safely?
i was thinking in the front i could simply move the spring to the other side of the frame railby building another L shaped bracket like it has from the factory.

for the rear i was thinking i could build a bracket to put the spring between the frame rail and where the trunk floor drops down for the fuel tank.i plan to reinforce both with 3/16 steel plate, maybe even tie the front spring mount into the sub frame connectors i will build.

any advice or ideas would be very helpful.thanks.

On my old pinto I used the inside bolt hole for the new outside bolt hole on the front spring mounts(moving them the spring width in) and built a box out of 3/16 plate for the inner and tied it all together. ended up being like almost 3-4" per side car wouild fit a 12" wheel with ease im positive.
