Anyone doing and doing any HiPo 6 cylinder modifications?

Saw this hot rod at the Route 66 Rendezvous in San Bernardino this weekend.

nope, haven't gotten into that yet. I wanna keep one maverick a 200 or even 250 and the other a 302. I'm still collecting parts and info on how to approach the 200.

definatly get a membership on fordsix.com/forums.

opeaning that thing up and letting it breathe is the biggest issue. the bottom ebd can handle it, you just have to concentrate your efforts on the head

That looks to be a "big block" six to me. If I had to guess, I would say it's based on a 240 by how short the engine is.

Gene, that is a very nice setup you got there! (y)

Only thing that bothers me is that fuel filter. I have heard many stories of those leaking and causing fires. Enough so that I decided against using one on my car. Would hate to see such a nice car damaged because of a fuel filter.

Just to share my experience: I have used that type of filter on two of my cars....no problems. One has been on my station wagon for 4 or 5 years now. I have driven the car to Carlisle, PA several times as well as all around here. The car sets out year round.

I think the key is to get the all metal ones....not the ones with any plastic components.

I had one on my Maverick and the end cracked right off it, it busted off even with where the threads meet the base of the filter and I figured it was a fluke so I bought another one and put it on there and it did thread in pretty deep before finally tightening up on the last couple of threads but so far no leaks. Now that I know they are a problem I will keep my eye on it, what does one use to eliminate it??? is there a special size/thread nipple or something I can screw in place of the filter and put a different in line filter in instead??

i had the stock filter on the carb bust off one time. i was scared i wouldnt be able to get the threads out of the inside of the carb but it was soft enough i could dig into it with a screw driver and spin it back out. after that happen i decided to keep an extra. with the 2bbl though you have to run an inline filter though.
