    Hello guys:

I am new to this forum. Currently in the middle of restoring a 65 comet 404. Motor done, alum GT40 heads, polished high rise, cam and headers, runs sweet, body and paint done, but long ways to go to turn this into a pro stock. :) Currently has a 3 speed auto, but want to put in a 5 speed and narrowed rear, blower and so forth. Looking forward to putting on a blower, and a tough drive train.
Here are a couple of pictures so far.
Looking forward to asking questions and helping where I can.
    All the best:
    Tom

    65 comet

    Hi guys:

Well, one of the things that I need to do is put in a narrowed 9 inch rear end, and according to some sources, I can get one out of a later model.

Also, there are lots of front end upgrades from later models and so forth.

I did a lot of research on building a stroker motor, and I am sure that someone will be able to give me advice.

I am a good mech, been working on cars for the last 30 plus years, so I may be able to contribute as well.

    Thanks.
    tom

Always room for another blue blood junkie. I've had a bunch of old Mercs through the years and loved them all. There is alot of knowledge here especially in the high performance department that will more than help you along.

    rearend...

...you will probably find that any factory 9 inch rears will be wider
than yours. The '64-'65 Comet should be the same width rear as
the '65-'66 Mustang. The '67-'68 Mustang/Cougar is wider, and
the '69-'73s are even wider than those. No Maverick or Comet
ever came from the factory with a 9 in.
I am one of many who have never even seen the 8 in. rear that
did come in these cars-and happens to be the same width as yours
    with a positive traction.

Nice looking motor. Welcome to the board.
