Hello everybody, my name is Anthony and this is my first Maverick. I sold a 1971 Volkswagen Super beetle in order to purchase this 1971 Ford Maverick. Automatic transmission. Runs great, Stops great, interior is shot, and it has a hole in the pan in the rear passenger side footwell. Got it for $750. Last registered in 03! I'm going to go to DMV in the morning to pay the man, and then hopefully drive it some. Soon I'll upload engine pictures and shots of the pan and interior.

As long as there isn't anything scary under that paint I'd say you did real good on that purchase.

The paint has a grainy rattle-can texture, so it's gonna go eventually. The rear passenger side (between the taillight and the popout window) has some obvious bondo problems, so that'll be fun. All the body panels that I can see the backside of look great, even the bondo area, surprisingly. The trunk and hood have a nice factory blue on the underside, which is the color it'll go back to eventually. No really big plans, if I can find another head I'll mill it and modify it to accept a Weber 2bbl or progressive carb. It's packing a 200 right now, possible 302 pipe dreams later on.

Anywhere online I can find seatcovers fot this guy? It's got a bench seat, which has but a fond memory left of the cushion and cover. Since I'm new to these cars, anyone recommend any must visit/ must reads? Can't seem to find any good repair manuals or electrical diagrams. Oh, and I just realized that my gauge lights don't work, how do I remove them to get to the bulbs?

check the fuses first. you can get the bulbs at just about any parts store. there's a good tech article on removing the panel.

Alright, get ready for a pile of pics that show off the car's dark side, RUST! I've definitely seen worse, but for the price I paid, I don't mind the extra work too much.

Pretty bad rust, will need to find a willing member here for donor metal for most of this rear passenger floor

Fuel pump that must disappear, soon to be replaced by stock mechanical
    [IMG]

    Might replace alot of wiring

Is there any way that I can get just the rubber bushing that goes here? I'm not so sure those are FoMoCo nails :) The shocks seem fine otherwise.

Any way to rebuild these fuel pumps, or should I just replace it? Also, how do I plumb my vaccum hoses correctly, is there a diagram anywhere?

Anywhere I can get a rebuild kit for this carb? I have a slight stumble when I put the pedal in. Also, how do I set the choke? It sits straight up all the time.

Sorry for all the questions, this is all new to me and I'd rather do it right.
