I know I risk looking stupid but here I go......
I need input on swapping my mavs stock tail ligths for those from a 68 cougar.
    Please I need feedback.
If anyone has done it, how much work was involved and what am i up against?
    Any help is much appretiated......

    I haven't done it myself...
These pics are ones I have collected off this site about the mod.

    IMO...
When mounted Cougar style, they stick off the car too far.
When mounted Shelby style, like in the second pic, they are very nice looking.

    Just my opinions.

The taillights in this last pic are 69s or 70s ... don't know which, but they are different than the 68s.

Btw ... parts for 69s and 70s Cougars tend to go for a lot higher prices than the earlier ones. Most everything is year specific.

I added 68 Cougar lights to my Mav a few months ago. I cut out the rear taillight panel, had a local sheet metal guy make me a custom piece to fit the lights ($75 ) then attached it under the bumper, trunklid, and corner pieces so that the seams don't show. Not show quality, but desent enough to turn heads, and all for under $150 (lights included) and a weekend of work. I'll add some pics later.
