OK, I am trying to get away from the metal lines and go braided stainless from transmission to cooler.

The fittings in the transmission are wierd. There is a long non-pipe threaded nipple that goes into a brass nut, and has a rubber o-ring between the nut and the transmission.

But, a 1/8" pipe threaded nipple (grease zerk, in picture) fits in there fine and goes in about 3-4 turns before it starts to grab and get tight. This is the same thread as inside the brass nut.

I should be able to get from -6AN to 1/4" NPT no problem, but I don't think I can get -6AN to 5/16" compression male, which is what fits in the end of this L and what is on the end of the brake lines.

you can get the 5/16s to -6 fiting. what i did was run two hard lines to where the trans and motor meet. i put a coupler there and then ran to more along the oil pan to the front of the motor. from there i used a coupler and a 5/16 inverted flair to -6 adapter to goto the -6 that goes to the cooler. i got the fitings at a local suplyer of an stuff. with the cost of steel braid hose being so much it was cheaper to have several lengths of hard line. i can disconect it with ease right at the trans to motor coupling and not worry about trying to get to those fitings at the side of the trans.

The pipe thread in the transmission is a 1/8" straight pipe/O-ring seal. (1/8" pipe is about 3/8" outside diameter) 1/4" pipe is about 9/16" outside diameter. The C5 and C6 use 1/4" pipe but the C4 uses 1/8" pipe.
