Man I wish I had the room for this! http://kpr.craigslist.org/pts/3819481990.html We have for sale a 1970 Mercury Cyclone "Project Car" . It is a true spoiler model that came with the C code 429 cobra jet W/ four speed. There is no motor, trans, or rear end, deck spoiler. The body it self may need work, but is not a complete rust bucket project. It still has the clutch pedals, Dash, speed o, tach, radio Might be good for vins or if you want to have a real cobra jet car?? I still have all the drive train and some other parts. (No carb or air cleaner) Everything is original to the car but the short block. asking $8500.00 for all I have had the car for many years and it was stored inside waiting for time to restore. Listed the car a few times with all the drive train, but did not make a sale, so we pulled the motor , trans, rear end. The car was factory Grabber Blue, white interior, 429 cobra jet motor, four speed, 9inch 31sp trac lok, power steering, power brakes. Have Marti report in hand. We have misplaced the title that was not in our name, but have the bill of sale from the same person. All we will give is a bill of sale to the person who purchases along with the other bill of sale. I might consider possible trades, tools, bang bang/ammo, dirt bike, 65 mustang project, car trailer, food service items, ??? What do you have of value that is smaller than this car?? I agree, priced too high, for condition. Finding the complete grille for those cars is near impossible. It would be a money pit and a guy would be upside down in it, in a hurry.
You could probablly buy a real good Maverick or Comet for what the grill and bumper would cost for that thing.
It would be pretty easy to get the tittle issue sorted but the missing pieces would be tough. There's another on just down the road from where I work that, a complete car but not a Spoiler. It's a GT with a 351 but that's all I know about it, suppose I should stop and check it out. The guy that has it has a 70 Torino Cobra too.
I know a guy that had one....sold it to buy a Chevy...they are a rare car, I alway thought they looked pretty cool.
No argument from me but if the price was right and you were a resident here it isn't hard to get the lost title processed. It is lengthy but can be done, takes three years to get a title in your name.
As fewer unrestored examples exist every year.. that price doesn't really surprise me much at all these days. What does surprise me is the amount of rare cars I see coming out of that part of the country. That's where I drove to trade my highly optioned 68 Mustang(+ cash) for my 71' Torino GT/SCJ car more than 20 years ago.
