'70 engine compartment color..

    mine was painted black from factory, but is it more of a flat / matte black or like a semi-gloss black? anyone know :huh:

    if it helps mine is flat black from the factory... doesnt seem to be too faded or anything but im not exactly sure :huh:

    I have a 69.5, and it has a black engine compartment. I have it satin black now, but it was flat black when I got the car, which at the time was all stock.

    1972 Maverick Grabber - Color: Orange Also, 1976 Ford Maverick 4-door, 1977 Mercury Comet 2-door.
    Should be semi-gloss black. 30% gloss I believe.

    Custom mix I requested at the place I buy my auto paint - it is a Dupont Centari Enamel - just don't add any hardener to the mix or you mess up the low 30% gloss. If you take that picture to your local auto paint place they can use those codes to make it.

    Make sure your paint mixer knows you will not be using the gloss hardener and that he gives you the correct thinner. I go for a 3/2 mix with 8170S reducer - but your paint guy will set you up for your climate and shop temperature.
