I understand the floor pans are different than later models b/c buckets were not an option that year.

Anyone here put bucket seats in a 70 Maverick. If so, what kind of modifications did you have to make?

I understand that Maverick seat rails are somewhat unique. Can I take the seat rails off two sets of Maverick bench seats and install them on to bucket seats?

Well, i'm in the same boat! Actually, i almost considered it a blessing when i was all done....not because of the extra work, but because your options are pretty much limitless as to what you can put in there! Personally i ended up buying a set of seats out of a '92 Honda Prelude (imports...eh...). Anyways, they're about as snug as some of the really expensive racing seats i've seen and sat in, they recline, and lean forward, and best of all they set me back only $150. I'll post pictures sometime if you're interested. Anyways, you'll just have to make brackets to make it fit, and you won't know what kind of brackets you'll need until you decide which seats you're goign to get! Don't limit yourself to just Maverick seats unless you REALLY want to stay stock, there are much newer and more comfortable seats than what came stock (don't get me wrong though, mavericks came with some pretty nice buckets). Anyways, good luck!

Actually the most comfortable buckets I ever owned were out of a Aerostar. I put them in my 79 Bronco. Before I sold it, I should have swapped them into my 96 Bronco. I keep looking for another set. I've also used Escort GT seats. One good thing about Ford buckets is that the all use the same size seat frame. Makes them easy to interchange. Around here you can buy buckets out of a junkyard for $15 each no matter what shape their in.

That was a great car. My oldest daughter rolled it on its side. We rocked it back on its wheels and kept on going with only a few scratches. Eventually it got passed on to the youngest daughter and she totaled it. Got over 100,000 miles out of it before its demise. Who says women are better drivers!!!

I had installed a set of '71 factory high-back buckets in my '73 because I wanted the look and I knew they would fit. But I think the import seats like the Hondas are awsome IF you can get them to fit properly, and if the rails are tall enough so that you don't feel like you're sitting in a hole (and can see over the dash). Those Aerostar seats look fantastic too...

Put '69 Mustang buckets in my '70. Just had to add some spacer blocks and longer bolts to make them sit level. One driver's seat bolt goes through the e-brake pivot bracket under the car. Doesn't affect the brake's operation. I think the bracket on later Mavs is relocated for just that reason. When I installed aftermarket seats they bolted right up to the Mustang rails.
