Took year to get back to the Strip. 3000 pounds with driver. 460 running pump gas. 10.90 @ 124 first real pass. Right on target for 10.60.
hes got tons of room under the full tilt front end but its still a BEAST sitting there if thats the same car that was bought near me it had two stages of nitrous when I saw it
I'm just finishing a new radiator and fan. When I get the hoses on this week I will post a picture. The Maverick weighs 3000 with me in it. Yes it was the No Cal car you looked at, but even the old owners would not recognize it now.
460s make so much torque that with the right tire & gearing at 3000lbs breaking low 10s will be a breeze. Also you don`t have to turn a lot of rpm to do it,great bracket car with a mtr that will live a very long time.
Once I get the body panels to fit this will look as nice as it really is. Took me a year to upgrade/fix/change this old racer to be a clean little bracket racer running on pump gas. Truly a gas and go car.
Sure looks like you succeeded to me. Love the 385 series motor. If I didn't want to go around corners so fast.. that's the motor I'd be running as well. 514 stroker with Kasse heads sounds about right to my ears. What heads used on your combo?
545 Scat stroker with old Blue Thunder heads. 10.4 compression, with way to big of a cam for this car .715in .715ex and a long duration. Makes alot of torque early and keeps it late.
Nice! I know exactly what heads you're talking about after seeing them on the bench years ago. I can only imagine the powerband that cam must give that crank. lol
10.572 @ 128 MPH on pump gas. Wrong cam, wrong converter, and wrong gear all for a much heavier car. Gonig to leave it like it is and go racing. http://www.klrpictures.com/2016-TEST-AND-TUNES/2016-Test-and-Tune-4/i-X2w453D/
Used to be a guy named Don Cumby, had a 70 torino with a 4 spd 460 car turning 10.80 yrs ago.Your car with correct set up will break high 9s easily & be reliable,GREAT.
The Convertor is a 3800 stall, the cam is .715/.715 lift with a huge duration, and the gear is 4:30s that were in a 4000 pound Ranchero. I shift at 6000 rpm and go thur the traps at 6000. All on 91 octane. I will leave it this way and start to put another motor together with a smaller cam for the future.
