'70 for sale...how much?? Hi, all! A few years ago, I bought my daughter a 1970, 6-cylinder, two-door Maverick. She's always loved the car -- whenever it was parked somewhere, she'd come back to find notes on her windshield, asking if she'd sell it. Now that she's in Europe for school, she's decided she should...and I'm going to do it for her. Unfortunately, I have no idea what it's worth, so I thought I'd ask our mechanic and you! It's a two-door in good mechanical shape. The body, inside and out, is in terrific condition, other than a front bumper that needs to be straightened and rechromed and a missing knob on the driver's side window crank. And, since we live at the beach (So. Cal.), the original green paint is oxydized. It really needs a paint job. So, ballpark figure, what should I be asking? I really appreciate your help. It's a beautiful car could be even more beautiful, but unfortunately, it's lost its driver! Thanks!
its worth nothin i'll go over to your house in a few minutes to pick it up just playing its sounds like in the $1-3,000 range but we need pics
Wow, its so tough to price a car by a simple discription. I'd guess between $900 and $1500 if it is a nice as it sounds. Is the ignition switch under the dash or on the column?
Moderator Suggestion....... If I may make a suggestion after you get enough input/opinions you should list a forsale ad in the forsale forum. Please read the rules before posting your ad. Good luck in selling the car and welcome to the site. Lance
Wow....thanks! Okay, here's what I've gotten so far: 1) Everyone wants pics. I don't have a digital, will try to figure out the easiest way. 2) Year is 1970. But MONTH????? No clue. Where would I find that out? 3) We're in Long Beach, CA. Before that, it lived in Malibu. 4) The ignition is just to the right of the steering wheel, so I guess that'd make it under the dash. 5) Some wacky mechanic at Pep Boys told me I should ask $8000 for it. So I now know it's worth somewhere between $900 and eight grand...! Again, thanks! You guys are the best!!
if the guy at pep boys will give you 8 grand go for it, .....thats overly optimistic. prices will vary by region too, so what may go for less in some places ,may go much higher in others. like others have mentioned, try to get good pics, that will help for determining an acurate value from the people on here. good luck selling it.
The switch under the dash makes it a very early 70, often called a 69 1/2. Same thing they do on the very early Mustangs. Just makes it more rare in the Maverick world. I'd go back to Pep Boys and see which one would give you $8k for it. I'll bet there are no takers.
8K go get it b4 he changes his mind! here we go another "person" trying to drive up prices when they don't know what they are looking at. hum i live up near pomona... and do go to the gardena area often... if i'm in the area maybe i can call you to check it out. PM me or e-mail me @ maverickman@maverickman.com if you are interested? though pictures of everthing inside and out would save time $900 sounds more like a ball park then $8000 if you ask me. again it depends on the condition... hows the rust since its near the beach.. i know it probably wouldn't be that bad compared to most cars on the east end but i do know the beach has some effect on rust. is motor orginal? how many miles on odo? tranny ever been changed? is it an auto or stick? my ears are open
Crazy Pep Boys Mechanics Okay, apparently I hit a nerve. Though a Pep Boys mechanic did say that, he neither ponied up, nor did I take him seriously. "$900 to eight grand"? C'mon...! I was kidding around! Sorry that didn't come through on email! (My husband's at Pep Boys right now, trying to find that guy again. ) It's an automatic, new transmission, 110,000 on the odometer, and there's a little rust, though nothing significant. If it's only worth $900, we'll probably just keep it, because it's a very cool car. Right now I'm thinking more in the $2300 range.
