I recently purchased a rear valance that came off a 70 Grabber. I am planning on installing it on my 74 but I dont see how it will work. It has a big bracket in the middle and it looks like the only way it will work is if I cut it down. I would hate to do this because the valance is mint. Any suggestions? Thanks

Only way is to convert to the smaller back bumper. Personally, I'd make the change.

74 didn't have a rear valance .... Like Mavaholic said ... you would need to convert to early style bumpers ...

Are you sure you bought a "valence"?

The yellow car in Dan's signature graphic was a big bumpered '74. Dan converted it small bumpers. I think the problem your haveing is there is no where to mount it. You have to drill all the holes and cut 2 holes for the rear bumper brackets to come through. You do not cut anything on the valance.

The valance mounts to the bottom of the tail light panel with sheet metal screws all the way across. Then there is a bolt in each bottom cornor of the valance panel that goes through a hole in the quarter panel. THat keeps the bottom edges up tight against the body.

Oh man .... I saw the auction on eBay ... that is not a Maverick valance ... you got ripped ...

Here is what a Maverick valance looks like. And here is a picture of the early stages of a 74 to 72 bumper swap ... (ignore the tail lights)

psyweezle, i would take it to a car show/swap meet. I could be wrong cause its been acouple of years but i think that is a cougar valance.

by the way dan, the taillights seem to be blocky and pixelated:49::lolup:
