I have a 72 Comet that needs some body work and re-paint. On lower fenders and doors there are a few bubbling spots about to become rust holes and in one or two places, small tears. What's the best/cheapest way to go.
Best/cheapest is an oxymoron. Cheapest is almost never the best. Unfortunately what you can see is only a fraction of the actual rust. The only way to get rid of rust is to cut it out and weld in new metal. If you have the time you could take some auto body classes at a local community college or trade school. Some of them will even work on your car for free when you let them use your car to learn on. Where in VA do you live?
there are rust converters out there. they work really good, chemically changes the rust into a black oxide which can be painted over. stuff isn't too hard on the pocket book and goes a long way
does it work on bad rust ie a roof took me 3 days to take all the rust off the roof of my mav now my sister gave me a 65 biscane and the roof is coverd in rust
