Okay, How can I find out the original strip color on my Grabber?
Is it noted some how on the Vin? The door sticker? I am getting ready for body work and will soon need to know what stripe kit was used.
    Help if anyone knows!
Also a good place on-line to find em cheap to order?

Same goes with new rubber for the doors, hood and trunk lid etc.
    Thanks

The color codes are on the data sticker, which is located inside the drivers door jamb. Post the codes and someone here will decode them for you. As for weatherstripping it's available through Auto Krafters.

Not sure that the stripe color is indicated anywhere.

Since it is a 72, I would start off by trying to determine the original paint color of the tail light panel. Look under the end caps and weatherstripping for traces of the original color.

Yeah....we need to know the original color of the car and then we can determine stripe color.

Only certain color stripes were available with certain paint colors.

In another thread he said it was 4F Medium Lime Metallic.

I would guess it had a Lime Green Stripe like this car

I saw some of your pics posted ... and your car looks like it was originally 4F. I also noticed in your picture that your engine compartment was not painted yellow. Check your door jams and the inside front and rear of the doors themselves for any remnant of a factory stripe. If the previous owner only painted the exterior of the car like it appears ... portions of the original stripes may still be there.

I had a 72 Grabber that had been repainted and black stripes installed. I found a remnant of a black/red stripe on the inside edge of the door ... indicating the factory color.

Thanks! I went to strip the stripes and discovered the guy before me just taped off the stripes when he painted it yellow and therefore the stripe kit is originally blk on the 4F. Then in areas he did body repair, get this, filled over the stripe and then painted then painted on the black stripe. Can't believe it, but then again . . . . Anyway, have most of that taken off, always kills me to take a blade to paint no matter what, and have things pulled off ready for body work to begin--Hate how you have to take this off to get to that to get to what you want to take off! lol
In the end, repaint original color or as close as poss since it most likely is not around anymore and the plan is to paint on the stripes, covering it all in several coats of clear coat. Should last then.
    Thanks again everyone!
