Hey guys, After scouring Cragslists for the last 7 months, ive finally bought a 72 maverick! Cars of this era are hard to find in decent condition up here in New England but mines a really solid car, and i couldnt be happier with such a starting point. The body has only one little rot spot under the door, but the whole rest of the car is really solid. Its has a 302 with an newer holley 4 barrel, a c4 transmission and a B&M Z-gate shift kit. The car was bought as a registered and insured on the road daily driving car and i drove it home at 80 mph on the highway with without any issues. Cant beat picking up a project car from 72 and being able to drive it home! Since this is my first maverick, im sure ill have a million questions, so thanks in advance for all the advice and help. Ill be starting a build thread for anyone interested in following the progress.
from Wisconsin! Looks like a very solid start. Thanks for posting pictures and looking forward to seeing your build thread. And I agree - cars are getting harder to find.
Hahaha thanks. When i first bought the car, i hated the scoop, i thought it was way too big and tacky. Now, its grown on me and i love it, i cant picture the car without it. Its functional too, so it'll stay.
Lol....Driving home a project is a VERY nice way to start your first Maverick. Mine is also a "first" one, and still missing some parts, but close to one piece. Welcome! and yes, peeps around here know everything you can think of. Get to know the site and search functions....hours and hours of info right there.
Welcome to the site from northeast Ohio!!!! Don't forget to put your car in the Garage! Your detailed information and photos that are useful to other builders will be there long after this posting is old and forgotten.
