I am in the process of restoring a '72 Maverick and was looking for a way to get a replacement gas tank for the car. Is there any place that anybody knows of that I can get a replacement tank at or something I can do to the tank to get it back in good shape? I have a '72 Maverick 3.3 L. Any help would be amazing.

Radiator shops can boil the tank and fix any pinholes. Idk where to get a 72 tank. I have a 71 and had to put a 77 tank in (19 gallon instead of 15)

I have called every Radiator shop in 50 miles of me and they all say they can't do it.

here's one that they have new. It's for a 76 but it should work with longer bolts and bending your straps.. (can someone support or deny for me?) Uses a different top vent too, so u'd wanna pick up one of those. Maybe fresh O-rings when you put it back in too. Just another option for ya. Good Luck!:thumbs2:
Oh- I think saw a coupon code somewhere on here for %5 off rockauto. Do a search

Hello, I have a 72 Mav, the last owner put in a 65 mustang tank. He told me he kept the Mav sending unit. Gas Gauge work for 2 years after the swap.

It is a 72 Grabber with a 302. There is a great Gas Tank how to,just do a search for gas tank up grade mod. The engine size or body style should not matter with the 65 Mustang tank. It is 16 gallons.

    Good Luck

It works, lots of us have used the 76 tanks on older cars. It's been discussed at least a hundred times...(y)
