I have been looking for a choke pull off to my carter yf 7130S carb. I have called every store in town looked online ebay, amazon but still have not found anything or anywhere where i can get a choke pull off. does anyone know where i can find this part? i am picking up a choke thermostat today but need that choke pull off. one good thing is i did find a manual for the carter yf carb. hope this will help someone out. http://oldcarmanualproject.com/manuals/Carbs/Carter/YF/index.htm but if anyone here knows where to find a choke pull off or vacuum pull off i think its the same thing it would be greatly appreciated thnx guys.
just curious but I have almost never seen one of these old 1 bbl carbs rebuilt that lasts any amount of time after it was rebuilt, why not go look on ebay and get a NOS carb, they sell for less than $100 a lot of times and are brand new. I got one not long ago and it was in great shape NOS and I paid less than $50 shipped to my door. I did wait quite awhile to get that good of a deal but they are out there to be had. Even if you are in some what of a hurry to get one, like I said $100 - $150 you can get a NOS carb that will likely outlast anything that you are going to rebuild. Like i said, Just curious not trying to sway you one way or the other.
Thanks for the info. But what is a NOS carb? And will it fit onto my 200ci? Is there any modes that need to be done or is it a straight bolt on?
Sorry about that NOS is such a common term I forget that not everyone knows what the heck it means. NOS= New Old Stock.....which means it is brand new, but is old stock that has been sitting on the shelf somewhere for a few years. So yes they are out there to be had brand new still in the box, direct Carter YM or Autolite (FORD) replacement parts that are 15 - 20 year old still brand new in the original box.
little bit more than I would pay but give you an Idea http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1973...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
Thanks for the info. I will have to look into these nos parts. Would you happen to know what would be a good upgrade carb for this engine? Can I go two barrel? I'm learning here I have never owned a inline 6.
yes you can actually do a 2 bbl upgrade to a progressive 2 bbl. do a search on it. There are several people that have done the 2bbl/I6 thing. I wasa going to do it but there is an adapter involved and depending on which adapter you get and which 2bbl carb you get and several other variables, some guys have done the swap and had barely enough room to get it all under a stock hood. Several Others have done the swap and had to cut holes in their hoods and put scoops on or go to cowl hoods to make it all fit. I could never 100% identify which parts went with which other parts to make it all fit under the stock hood so I didn't do the swap. But if you do a search on Putting a 2bbl carb on your I6 http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=36020
