I have just purchased a 1974 Maverick that I'm going to sale and need some help on what I should ask for it. It's a '74 with under 61,000 original miles and is as original as the day it was built. It is a one owner and was purchased from the original owner.
It's white with pea green int., 302 v-8,auto.,ps,ac,am radio, no floor mats though. MINOR surface rust on some spots of the car and bumpers and some trim, the right fender paint is cracked and is peeling off at the wiper arm post and they could stand to be painted but the rest is in good shape. The drivers seat has a small tear in it about three inches long on the back, the drivers side door grab handle is pulled off. The passenger side window crank handle is broke off but that's about it for the interior. The seats still have the original floral design inserts with no cracks
The floor pans, trunk, quarter panels are rust free. This car was kept under a carport since she bought it. It rides, drives and runs great . If anyone can give me an idea on the value, I would greatly appreciate it.

according to my sources it should be worth about 1875 to about 2600 with 2600 for show room condition. However, These cars seldom bring good money. Good luck.

It would make a fine candidate for restoration/modification. Keep in mind that if the car indeed has 61,000 original miles, it has spent a LOT of time sitting, which means that seals, rubber parts, weather stripping, bushings, gromets, suspension parts, transmission seals, etc. have 29 years of rotting and would need replacment. The 302 doesn't need rebuilt at all--at least no machine work, just new gaskets & seals to freshin' it up. At 61K miles, it's just broken in and good for 100,000 more miles.

I agree with what Mavaholic said...
