8" need to know...

    i have a 56.5" long, 4 lug 8" with the flange mounting holes different than all others i find....

    the top holes are... 3 and 1/4" OC
    the bottom are.......2 and 7/8" OC
    top to bottom are...1 and 3/4" OC
    bearing retainer......2.654" across

    a 3:00 8" chunk fits in it perfect, could someone tell me what this rearend came out of?

    Probly a Mustang II or Pinto. Those were about the only 8" rears with 4 lug wheels.

    60s mustangs had 4 lugs also. falcons and rancharos had 4 lugs too. i dont have any references as to what that is out of. all you can do is figure what vehicals the width matches. there are several sites that list widht. i dont have them at home. they are on the work computer.

    the 60's mustangs, falcons, ranchero's, etc... will all be 7.5"

    the bolt pattern on the flange is what threw me, it matches none i've seen before on a...56.50" wide rearend...:yup:

    The Mustang II's do shows an odd part number for the bearing retainer, D4FZ 4020-A. On a side note: 71-'73 Mavericks made before 12/15/72 used the C8UZ 4020-A and '73-'77 used D3ZZ 4020-A. Above part numbers used the same midium size axle bearing

    i have a 71 vin L mav with a 4 lug 8". originally a 250 six cyl. car / 302 now. dont let the grabber hood fool you.:D
