hey i just found a 81 lincoln continental and it looks just like a versailles and i look underneath it and the rear end looks just like mine except with disc brakes does anyone know if the rear ends are interchangable between a 81 lincoln continental and versailles and maverick if so i already spoke to owner and have spoken for the car just trying to get some info b4 i buy it
measure from flange to flange , spring perch to spring perch, on the lincoln and measure your car i think this off the top of my head f to f should be 52 1/4 and p to p is 43 , im sure someone else will chime in but it may be close , i think it might be to wide but im not sure
I have a feeling a lincoln continental rear is alot wider than a little maverick, but I dont know. maybe the disc breaks themself can be removed and used on your mavericks rear?
sounds like a possibility.... about the brakes anyways. but i think the rear itself will be too wide for a mav
Continental should have coil spring rear. That is one big difference. Then it is wider AND will have a larger bolt pattern than regular Ford type cars. 5 lugs on 5" if memory serves. You will find this pattern on many large FoMoCo coil spring cars in late 70s early 80s. Then, there's more... Most were 9.375" ring gears. The housing can hold a 9" chunk though. The 9.375" chunk has no good gear selection. Good luck Dave
