I searched the archives as I remember when Dennis was installing the 9" in the sprint. Did you go with the Southside bars? What did you end up doing for a lower shock mount? Did you have to shorten the driveshaft?
I am going with a 99 Explorer rear disc brake setup as the Wilwood and others are just too pricey for me now. Thanks

When I went with the Versailles I just enlarged the Maverick shock mount bracket holes.

Of course the Cal-Tracs come with thier own shock mounts so it's all good now :d

Hey Charlie thats just wierd I was playing around and bolted my granada 9" up to my leafsprings and I just used my mav u bolts and lower shock mount. does the versailles 9" use the large bearing? cause my granada 9" uses the small diameter bearing. in all reality I could narrow my 9" by 1" and use the 8" axles......and yes it is a 9".......

Southside bars come with their own shock mount also.

I went with the Caltracs. They are a bit pricy at $300 but I had talked to about 3 different people who had them and actually used them for racing and had nothing but praise. They also come with the lower mount. I'm not sure of the difference in tube diameters but in my case if I would have egged out the holes in my stock mounts, the nuts would have been half hanging in the air. Not to mention the one nut that is kinda recessed near the shock mount would have been impossible to use. I have a versailles rear sitting behind the house and the tubes are definatelly smaller than my Currie. The driveshaft did not have to be shortened. I've used my original drive shaft through all the changes this car has been through. 6cl w/ 3 spd, 302 w/ automatic, 302 with BW 4 spd, and now 302w/ toploader 4 spd and 9". I did have a new drive shaft made just because I wanted a much stronger shaft for my set up but the original one bolted right up.

My Versailles was a bit bigger than the 8" rear. It uses small axles but the bearings are unique (sealed). They might be a bit bigger than the small bearings.
