As the title states here is my 76 Maverick that I am building for Hot Rod Drag Week 2013. I have entered the Daily Driver class. The car was originally built by my dad in 1999, he gave it to me late last year (he was tired of it):). So far I have changed the wheels, and hood scoop. It needs a few things to meet NHRA rules, and I need to put some of my style in it/ make it live though drag week.

The car will/does consist of: 10:1 flat tappet 306, early ported and valved 289 heads, toploader, and a 3.50 detroit locker 9 inch. It has a 8 point bar in it w/sub frame connectors.

Here are some pictures of how the car sits now........yes I am keeping the big bumpers:cool:

Now comes the task of getting rid of the converter hump in the floor, and get the seats remounted. I love my dad but sometimes his fab skills make me laugh. He used square tube to level the seats- see the pics. I also got the trans tunnel trimmed, and a removable shifter surround fabbed for the Hurst V-gate.

    The converter hump is gone.

I am going to use 2 pieces of steel to fill in the hole due to the way the floor drops down as it goes back. The rear piece is in, need to get some more metalto build the front.

I have been busy, but got back on the car tonight. Passenger floor is done, and seam sealed. I got my seat brackets. They need to be modified to fit the floors, and lowered.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. Between work, my son's baseball, and life there were not too many updates. We are getting close to drag week, so it is time to kick it into high gear. I have been busting my a## on the car over the last 2 weeks. It will take a few more weeks of this to get it done.

    Here are some updates:

Put some home brewed lizard skin (insulation) on the floor.

Then put some peel and seal over that to help control road noise.

I am using the carpet that was in the car. The removable shifter surround was causing some headaches with the carpet. I fabbed a bezel to go around the surround.

I got a deal on a aeromotive fuel pump, and regulator. I sumped the tank, now the car has a fuel system that will support future upgrades.

    Thanks!

Some more progress has been made. The V-Gate is in, and finished the shifter surround. Cal-tracs are installed.

    Great work so far!

although that engine setup is begging for a little nitrous, gotta compensate for the heavy ass bumpers somehow :D

The stereo is all wired up, polk 6x9's in the rear deck, and 2 3.5's in the dash. It sounds pretty decent.
